Children in the Fire Wins Two Prestigious Awards at the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo
We are honored to announce that Children in the Fire has received two major recognitions at the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo 2025: the AMADE Human Rights Award and the Jury Special Prize.
The awards were presented during the festival’s Closing Ceremony on June 17th at the Grimaldi Forum, in the presence of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene. This powerful acknowledgment places our film among the most important voices shaping television and documentary storytelling today.
The AMADE Human Rights Award—granted in partnership with the World Association of Children’s Friends (founded by Princess Grace of Monaco)—honors films that promote and protect the rights of vulnerable children. The jury praised Children in the Fire for its raw vulnerability and poetic artistry, noting how the film avoids sensationalism while shining a compassionate light on young survivors of the war in Ukraine.
The Jury Special Prize further recognized the film’s innovative blend of live-action and animation, created in collaboration with our extraordinary partners at Unbroken Generation Production, Karandash Animation Studio, and PFX.
Directed by Evgeny Afineevsky and produced by Gisella Marengo, Children in the Fire amplifies the voices of children navigating unimaginable trauma—yet still finding dignity, resilience, and hope. Their stories are dedicated not only to Ukraine’s youngest but to children everywhere who have endured the terror of war, domestic abuse, mass shootings, or violence.
As Evgeny Afineevsky shared at the ceremony: “This film is for the children who carry unimaginable burdens, and yet show us what courage truly looks like. Their voices remind us of the power of resilience, the importance of compassion, and the urgent need to protect the most vulnerable.”
This recognition at the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo is a proud and humbling milestone for our team—and a tribute to the extraordinary children whose stories inspire the world.
