Children in the Fire Supports War Child’s ‘Return Every Child’ Campaign

As part of the Children in the Fire Impact Campaign, we proudly supported War Child in the launch of the Return Every Child initiative, which took place on September 7, 2025, at London’s Outernet. The campaign amplifies the urgent call to bring every abducted Ukrainian child home.

The Now Building was transformed into a striking installation of 19,546 paper dolls, each representing a child officially confirmed as taken from their home. The true number is far higher, with tens of thousands of children believed to have been forcibly moved into Russia, stripped of their names, denied their identities, and placed at risk of abuse, indoctrination, and even military recruitment.

According to the Ukrainian Government, only 1,366 children have so far made the journey back. Each child’s return is a victory, but the vast majority remain separated from their families. War Child’s campaign makes it clear — they are not forgotten, they are not lost, they were taken, and we must not stop until they are home.

The launch also underscored the power of art and storytelling to move hearts and demand action. Visitors decorated the dolls with drawings and messages of hope, while a video installation featured powerful scenes from Children in the Fire(2025), paired with an original score by Jasha Klebe. These stories of bravery and resilience remind us what is at stake: not only the lives of these children, but the cultural future of an entire nation.

We are honored to support this campaign alongside partners including Save Ukraine, the Human Security Centre, and Outernet. Together, we call on governments, leaders, and global citizens to act with urgency and conviction.
